Learn the golf swing STANCE used by the Pros

Learning the golf swing stance used by today’s PGA and LPGA touring golf professionals is just as easy to do as learning the golf swing grip. The most important thing to remember is to be relaxed, but use an athletic position for the golf swing stance.

What is an athletic golf swing stance? For the golfer, the athletic golf swing stance is one where both feet are at least shoulder's width apart. For the right-handed golfer, the toes of the left foot will be pointed about 15 degrees to the left while the right foot will be pointing normally straight ahead. Use this position of the feet for most middle irons such as the 9 iron, 8 iron, or 7 iron. As the club gets longer, the right foot might need to point further right just a couple degrees. And as the irons are shorter, such as the wedges, the feet may need to be a little closer together, and kept straighter to have the correct golf swing stance.

The knees in the golf swing stance should be just slightly bent while the back should be straight. It is also best to have the head straight and in line with the back to have the best golf swing stance.

If the head is straight and inline with the back in the golf swing stance, how can one see the golf ball? The trick is to keep the back straight and the head straight with the chin up, but bend forward from the hips. One must not slouch over which causes the shoulders to droop forward and the back to have a curved arch. Keeping the shoulders back, the hip or bottom pointing outward as one does in an athletic ready position to catch a ground ball in baseball, will put you in the best golf swing stance.

Relaxation is the biggest key to having a proper golf swing stance. Here is the best advice for keeping relaxed before, during and after the golf swing. While in the golf swing stance, do not clinch your jaws. Keep your teeth slightly apart. This will relax the muscles in the jaw, the face, and believe it or not, will relax the shoulders, the arms, and the whole rest of your body during your golf swing stance, and even your golf swing.
